ABOUT ME

I’m a multimedia artist, writer, and small business owner born and based in Atlanta, GA, USA. I have a lifelong relationship with visual art, storytelling, and animation, I got into music composition and audio when I was around 14, and I got into games, interactive storytelling, and art installations during college. I'm obsessed with basically everything involved in audiovisual storytelling, the spirit of experimentation, and creating provocative, visceral experiences filled with metaphors and life-affirming, weirdness-affirming energy. I chose to dive deep into animation in particular for my education because it is my lifelong partner and the place where so many mediums converge, and I finished my BA in Animation and Digital Arts at the University of Southern California's Hench-DADA program in 2021.

For me, art is visceral at its core, even though the skills and decision-making involved in it can also be intuitive, intellectual, and analytic. Art is a human instinct that is sustained by communities of passionate people from different backgrounds, skill levels, and perspectives.

After a while of using its name informally as a way to organize and manage my freelance work, I formally launched my art business Yompthoria Creative in 2024 with the desire to connect more with people in my community, find freedom from the grim realities of the commercial animation industry, and develop new ways to support myself financially. My father, Mark Olson, is my business partner.
